Choir & Music

Music in all its forms is vitally important to our worship here at Hornsey.

About to be led by our new Musical Director Edward Hughes, we have a friendly choir who welcomes anyone who wants to take part in any of our musical activities, irrespective of whether they can read music or not.

Our choir – soprano, alto, tenor and bass –  is currently nearly 20 strong, and a good number sings weekly at our Sunday Eucharist (10.30am service). There is a sung mass setting, an anthem and a sung psalm and response every week. We rehearse every Friday evening during term time at 7.30pm. Please get in touch with the church if you would like to join us.

We are quite ambitious and look to sing varied and interesting music, mainly traditional in style.

As well as weekly service singing, we look to do one major choral work a year, where we invite members of the local community to join with us. In recent years we have performed Stainer’s Crucifixion, Mozart’s requiem, Handel’s Messiah (selected excerpts) and a concert for Good Friday of a selection of sacred music for the Lenten season. Future projects will include Vivaldi’s Gloria.
